Rebirthing The Bloggg!

For the second time in two months, I’d like to welcome this lovely, shiny, reformatted blog to the world! After some tweaking, editing and URL changes, I’m super duper happy to announce that I’m no longer Cynical Makeup, but Cynical Bloggger*!

I’ll still be posting lots and lots of makeup fun, but I’ll also be writing more about music and talking about general lifestyle bits and bobs! I’ve been drafting up ideas and I’m really excited to see where this new direction takes me.

I’ll still be the same kinda cheap, kinda lazy, kinda messy bloggger, but I’ll also try my best to keep this bloggg as something that everyone will enjoy!

Lots of love,

Kiera x

*Cynical blogger was taken, so now everything is bloggg. Branding, ya know.

RE: Cynical’s Blog Direction

Change can sometimes be a good thing.

Don’t get me wrong, I love makeup and will continue to spend money on it, experiment and play with it until I can no longer – but I feel like my blog is suffering because of how restricted I’ve made it.

There’s so much more to me than makeup. I LOVE music, and even used to run a music blog back in the day. I’ve been trying to work out more and more, I’m a feminist, I love my dogs, I work full time, I was in a long-distance relationship, and I have severe self-acceptance issues.

There’s so much more I want to talk about and share, so many issues I want to tackle, and I think this blog is the best place for it! It’s going to take a while to find a real rhythm, but I feel like it will be much better, smoother, and more natural than the pace and tone I’m working with at the moment.

Please bear with me while I fine tune everything, but it I’m really optimistic with the how I plan to have the blog run. I’ll still be the same cheap, corner cutting, postive beauty blogger I started as, but I want to develop and grow into so much more!

Makeup And Tumblr Positivity

I’ve been majorly lacking in blog post content (I also started my new job and have been SO tired recently), so here is a lovely little round-up of general makeup positivity! It’s always good to feel good about yourself! Credit to the original posters, of course!

My Boots Haul – 9.8.16

I got a new job the other week, and decided it was high time to treat myself to some well-deserved (and in some cases essential) new items from Boots!

I always feel a little upset when I see what I’ve got for how much I’ve spent… sorry, bank account!

1. No.7 Aibrush Away Pore Minimising Primer – £16.50

boots2

I have wanted a No.7 primer for aaagggesss, and decided that it was now or never! They are super silky, and I’m so excited to replace my current Barry M primer with this one!

2. Boots Essentials Cucumber 3 Minute Clay Mask – £1.50

boots5

I finally ran out of my Lush face mask, and scoured the internet for a new one. With incredible reviews and an insanely low price, I can’t wait to try out this Boot’s own clay mask!

3. NYX Eye Shadow Base – £5.50

boots4

A someone who uses eyeshadow 24/7, I’ve had my eye out for an eyeshadow primer for a while now. This is one of the cheapest ones I could find with decent reviews, so hopefully it will hold up.

4. Soap & Glory Archery Brow Tint And Pencil – £10

boots7

My brow palette is finally starting to run out, so I figured I would try something different brow-wise this time round. I got the darkest brown I could, and am excited to see the results.

5. Maybelline Fit Me Matt And Poreless Foundation – £5.99

boots1

I always, always change my foundation. I have never come across one which is my absolute favourite, so I always get something different when my old one runs out. I’m excited to see how this foundation tackles my sometimes oily skin!

6. Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lipliner – £2.99

boots3

I have never owned a lipliner before – so now seems a better time than ever to invest! I went with this Rimmel one as it was cheap, had good reviews, and seems to match most of my lipstick shades.

7. Eylure Exaggerate 141 Lashes – £5.45

boots6

I can’t remember the last time I owned a pair of fake lashes, but as I’ve been playing with eye makeup more and more, I figured, why not? I picked these lashes simply because they don’t look overly fake, and seem like a good starting point to get myself back into wearing them!

I’ll definitely do some posts in the future reviewing and using items from this haul – do you have any of these? Let me know what you think of them!

Game of Thrones eyeshadow palettes… Yes, really!

Ever binge-watched a show so much, you wanted to create a themed eyeshadow palette for each main house? Yeah, me too.

After re-watching seasons 4-6 of Game of Thrones with my boyfriend (he seriously needed to catch up), I couldn’t help but lust after a Targaryen or Stark themed eyeshadow palette… So I played around in my cheap, shitty non-photoshop software, and came up with these bad boys!

(DISCLAIMER: The filigree and illustrations are awful, but lets just try to appreciate the overall concept, yeah?)

lannisterswatch
‘A Lannister Always Pays His Debts’ is filled with regal and expensive tones – reds, golds and bronzes – only the best for the Lannister clan.

targaryenswatch
‘Fire and Blood’ is an eyeshadow palette fit for a Khaleesi. Packed with reds, charcoals and lilacs, I think it’s a pretty good representation of the Targaryens!

starkpalette

The Starks have ash and frost as their colour palette. These shades would be perfect for winter, and would look great against the stark backdrop of Winterfell.

tyrellpalette1

Strong by name and nature, the Tyrell’s palette is earthy and powerful…if only Margaery were still here to see it…

Which do you think would be your favourite? I want them all, and I want them now!

Welcome to the world, Cynical Makeup!

Hello there! I’m Kiera, and I guess I should explain why the hell I’ve started this blog.

To put it simply, I love makeup. I’m no makeup artist, but I could sit and play with it all day… the problem is, there is no way on this earth I’ll ever be able to afford any of the ‘premium’ makeup that I see a lot of beauty bloggers using (I have 2 Kat Von D eyeshadow palettes, 1 was a gift, the second was free because the first was smashed on delivery) and I don’t own anything more expensive than a No7 primer and some Benefit bits.

I thought about how nice it would be to have somewhere to go where I could compare drug store makeup to get the best value for my money, and then I remembered I have a lot of spare time, and access to the internet.

Thus, this beautiful baby is born!

Why cynical? Because as much as I shouldn’t be, I can be cynic and a pessimist, and enjoy going against the grain from time to time. So, there’s that.

I can’t 100% say that it will be solely makeup based, but that will be a very large factor. I’ll keep changing and adapting with the times – if I can make sure I keep this thing up and running – and try my very best to be as honest as I can be!
